As the 12th Most Excellent Grand High Priest, it is an honor to greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior and welcome you to the jurisdictional website of Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands.   Florida has a rich history of Royal Arch Masonry, which dates back as far as 1897.   Just as our forefathers have done, we strive to be of greater service to this craft and the sojourners within our order.   You are cordially invited to actively participate in and support Holy Royal Arch Masonry, not just in Florida, but throughout other jurisdictions as well.

I encourage you to take a few minutes to tour this website. Our mission is built on dedication and commitment in support of a cause that embodies, Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.  The goal of this administration is to “R.E.P.” in a positive manner by promoting and encouraging members to Rededicate, Educate and Participate on a continued basis. We know a working Mason is a productive one.

On behalf of all the Prince Hall Holy Royal Arch Masons of Florida, I again bid you welcome.

Welcome to the Most Excellent Union Grand Chapter of Florida, Prince Hall Affiliated.

Let me thank you for visiting our website. I want thank our webmaster for all the time and efforts put into getting the site up to date and back online. This website will serve a means of communication to the jurisdiction.

As we begin with this administration let me assure you that we are ready to go to work and take Holy Royal Arch Masonry to another level.  The Holy Royal Arch is about rediscovery and rededictation.  Ezra 5:2 NIV states, “Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jozadak set to work to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. And the prophets of God were with them, supporting them.”

The mission of this grand chapter is to inspire and encourage each other to seek masonic knowledge and to implementation its tenets to improve oneself.

I want to thank all that attended the 112th Annual Grand Convocation of the Most Excellent Union Grand Chapter, Holy Royal Arch Masons of Florida and Jurisdictions, P.H.A. Because of your support, the session was a success.

We offer our thanks and appreciation to the Honorable Anthony T. Stafford 33°(A) KYCH, Most Worshipful Grand Master, and all other Department Heads in attendance for their support and encouragement of Holy Royal Arch Masonry in the State of Florida.

The 112th Grand Convocation will forever be a moment in time that holds a place of honor for me because all the companions and brothers and sisters opened their arms and hearts to welcome me in as their Most Excellent Grand High Priest.  Because of all the love showed, I am deeply humbled by the experience and the opportunity to serve the august body of men in Florida. I am reminded that humility is the greatest of the virtues and the mother of all the others. It is the foundation of strength and the outer manifestation of wisdom.

To the elected officers and deputies, I congratulate you also on this great opportunity to be of service to your companions.  Remember our goal is to lead by example and not assault. We will train and encourage the future leaders of this august body.  The mission statement summarizes who and what we stand for as Holy Royal Arch Masons.  It states, “To promote Prince Hall Affiliated Holy Royal Arch Masonry throughout Florida and its Jurisdiction. To encourage and practice the spiritual concepts of harmony, peace, love, and unity within the order while providing educational, fraternal, and benevolent assistance to our members and disburse charity to the less fortunate in our society.” We plan to represent the best Royal Arch has to offer by returning to the basics of Rededication, Education and Participation; not problems, but solutions.

As we embark upon this journey, I ask that you pray for me as I pray for you. The breast plate outwardly teaches us that as Jesus is our heavenly High Priest we are constantly in his heart when he stands before the FATHER and on his mind constantly is HOLINESS TO THE LORD.

Yours in the bond of 3 x 3

Lewis Thurston, 33°
Most Excellent Grand High Priest

What is Royal Arch

Royal Arch Masonry is not a religion and does not endeavor to fix ones conception of God.  Royal Arch Masonry regards your religious belief as your own; it does not attempt to influence your belief.  It only asks that you have a belief.  The motto of the Royal Arch is "Holiness To The Lord" and ever reminds us of the reverence due the Great and Beneficient Author of our existence, who is a Being without beginning of days or ending of years.

A Royal Arch Mason holds firm to the belief in the Brotherhood of Man, the Fatherhood of God, and the Immortality of the Human Soul in high regard.  He, therefore, who is a member knows that in his travels around the world he will be welcome and greeted with hospitality and friendship.

A Royal Arch Mason is taught to practice and espouse toleration for men and to become brothers in deed.  Through active membership one obtains those things to which Royal Arch Masons aspire --companionship--brotherhood--opportunity for service in humanity's name.

A Royal Arch Mason is taught to continually attempt to build with Plumb,

Square and Level, that Temple of Character which is the great goal of our gentle Craft.

The Royal  Arch Mason is the heart, root, backbone and marrow of Freemasonry.

Capitular Degrees
Chapter of Royal Arch Masons
Having completed your degrees in Symbolic Masonry (Blue Lodge), your next step in advancing in York Rite Masonry is the Chapter of Capitular Degrees.

Royal Arch Masonry is said to have derived its origin from the original Masonic Degrees and traditions.

The Chapter, as present in Florida, consists of four beautiful degrees:

  • The Mark Master Degree
  • Past Master Degree
  • Most Excellent Degree
  • Royal Arch Degree

Click on these to learn more about the degrees, or click on the home button to return home.

All Organizations have their own secrets and mysteries.  Royal Arch (Capitular) Masonry is secret only in the result of a ballot, and a few innocuous passwords and means of recognition which are rarely used, and then only for the purpose of examination for admission to a Chapter.  Membership is gained by the presentation of ritual through degrees, as described above.  The degrees are more important at regards the meaning of the ritual than the wording thereof.
